In May, 2017, Governor Larry Hogan promoted Ms. Bethamy N. Beam to the position of Chairman of the Maryland State Board of Contract Appeals. She replaces Michael Collins, who began service as a member and served as Chairman of the Board for 8 years ending May, 2017. In January, 2016, Governor Hogan appointed Ms. Beam as a member of the Maryland State Board of Contract Appeals. Ms. Beam has been in private practice in Frederick, Maryland since 1999, focusing on contract litigation, including construction, real estate, and other business disputes. She is actively involved in professional and local civic organizations. She has served as the President of the Bar Assoc. of Frederick Co. and currently serves on the Board of Governors and other committees of the Maryland State Bar Association.

In May, 2017, Governor Larry Hogan appointed Mr. Mike Stewart as the newest member of the Maryland State Board of Contract Appeals. Mr. Stewart has his own law office in Manchester, Maryland, where he has been practicing law since 1993. He is also results - orientated, highly - productive management consultant to small and medium -sized federal government contractors.

The 2017 SHA Standard Specifications for Construction and Materials will soon be released. It will replace the 2008 “Grey Book.” The current schedule is that all projects set to PS&E on May 30th or after will utilize this new document.
